Yaeko Matsuda, daughter of Rikiichi & Shizuko Kawaguchi, was born in Makawao, Maui on October 12, 1932 and passed away on December 17, 2017 at Hale Makua. Services honoring Mrs. Matsuda will be held at Kahului Hongwanji Mission on Friday, January 5, 2018. Visitation will begin at 9:30am with services beginning at 10:30am. Interment services will be held privately. The family requests casual attire. Marilyn Simpson passed away December 26, 2017 peacefully at home in Kula Hawaii at the age of 92. Marilyn lived during the depression years in Blue Rapids Kansas where her father and grandfather owned a flour mill. She graduated from Kansas University and married the “boy next door”, Jerry Simpson. They moved to Casper Wyoming, had their son Clay, and then to Calgary, Alberta Canada. Yoshie worked as a Barber for over 20 years being the owner of Sue’s Barber Shop in Wailuku. Yasuyoshi “Joe” Takushi, 91, of Kaneohe, passed away on December 1, 2017 at Castle Medical Center in Kailua. Joe was born to Saburo and Kamato Takushi on November 15, 1926 in Makawao, Maui. He retired as a Carpenter with Pacific Construction and was also a United States Army Veteran. Joe is survived by wife, Molly H. Takushi; brother, Saburo Takushi; sisters, Sumiko Nishino Tokuoka and Shirley Otoyo Matsui; many nieces and nephews.
