Dynasty (Chiefs’ version)

LAS VEGAS — Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid have made the Kansas City Chiefs a dynasty. They’re already thinking three-peat. Mahomes threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman in overtime, and the Chiefs rallied to beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 on Sunday, becoming the NFL’s ninth repeat Super Bowl champs. What’s inside the Senate’s $95 billion bill to aid Ukraine, Israel, counter China

WASHINGTON—The Senate is moving toward a final vote on an emergency spending package that would provide military aid to Ukraine and Israel; replenish U.S. weapons systems; and provide food, water, and other humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza. The Senate jettisoned from the package a bipartisan effort to boost immigration enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border after most Republican senators, following the lead of former President Donald Trump, deemed the bipartisan proposal inadequate. Abandoning the border proposal brought the price tag of the bill down to about $95.3 billion. If ...

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday said he has ordered the military to prepare a plan to evacuate civilians from Rafah ahead of an expected Israeli invasion of the densely populated southern Gaza city. The announcement came after heavy international criticism, including from the U.S., of Israeli intentions to move ground forces into the city that borders Egypt. Rafah had a prewar population of roughly 280,000, and according to the United Nations is now home to some 1.4 million additional people living with relatives, in shelters or in sprawling tent camps ...

If Super Bowl comes down to kickers, it’ll be a rookie vs. a clutch veteran

LAS VEGAS — In this town of favorites and underdogs, the Super Bowl kicking matchup between Harrison Butker and Jake Moody fits the narrative nicely. Moody is the challenger, a rookie who missed key kicks in a couple losses and has had some shaky moments during these playoffs. Butker is the champion, a veteran who has come through in the clutch for Kansas City throughout his career and provided the winning points for the Chiefs when they won it all last year. The kickers have been an afterthought in most Super Bowls, but in a close game they can make all the difference. Butker’s ...

Chip Kelly steps down as UCLA head coach to take OC job at Ohio State

UCLA coach Chip Kelly stepped down after six seasons leading the Bruins on Friday to become offensive coordinator for soon-to-be Big Ten rival Ohio State. The move leaves UCLA scrambling to fill a vacancy at the top of a program preparing to join the Big Ten with spring practice about a month away from cranking up around the country. For Ohio State, Kelly received a three-year contract to step into a role that opened up when Bill O’Brien left to become Boston College coach earlier Friday. Last month, Buckeyes coach Ryan Day hired the former Texans and Penn State coach as offensive ...
