WAILUKU--Jazz Maui presents Sunset Jazz featuring songstress Mary Anne Anderson along with keyboardist Mark Johnstone, bassist Dave Graber, drummer Jimmy C, and saxophonist Bruce Boege on Sunday Aug. 25, from 5-7 p.m. at the Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate Factory, 78 Ulupono Street, Lahaina. Sunset Jazz concert attendees must be 21 or older and have a valid photo ID. Seating is limited and often sold out so advance ticket purchase is required at www.JazzMaui.org or https://mauichocolate.com/pages/sunset-jazz.
Internationally-acclaimed song-stylist and Grammy-nominated lyricist Mary Anne Anderson has a smooth style. Her voice is expressive and warm making it perfectly matched for the timeless classics and original songs she performs.
Sunset Jazz showcases different visiting and local professional jazz musicians each week in the upstairs open-air-pavilion. Guest artists demonstrate the evolution of jazz using various instruments raging from saxophone and trumpet originally performed by jazz legends to modern day jazz artists.
During Sunset Jazz, chocolate sommeliers are on hand to assist with selections for purchase from a variety of award-winning chocolates and an extensive wine, spirits and beer list. Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate, through its Chocolate Laulima program, supports local nonprofit organizations such as Arts Education for Children Group/Jazz Maui. Proceeds from concert ticket sales benefit Jazz Maui's music education programs.
Jazz Maui, a branch of the 501(c)-3 nonprofit Arts Education for Children Group (www.aecg.org), provides opportunities for participation in high quality jazz music education and performances. Throughout the year The Jazz Maui 2024 Maui Music Series presents Sunset Jazz every Sunday and the Pau Hana Series every Friday in Lahaina, outstanding visiting virtuosos in a bi-monthly concert series in Kihei, and special concerts, clinics and classes held at various venues around the islands. Jazz Maui supports Jazz Night at the Empanada Lady in Wailuku and Sheryl Renee "Salutes" at ProArts.
