This week there’s plenty of excitement happening – from the return of the St. John’s Kula Festival to the Oskie Rice Memorial Rodeo, we hope you enjoy your weekend and stop a few of these soirées.

1. 20th Annual Mālama Wao Akua Exhibition (Thur., Sept. 19; 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Makawao): Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center in collaboration with East Maui Watershed Partnership (EMWP) is hosting the 20th Annual Mālama Wao Akua Exhibition. Mālama Wao Akua is a juried art exhibition celebrating the native species of Maui, Lāna’i, Molokai, Kaho’olawe. 2. Maui Pub Run (Thur., Sept. 19; 5:15 p.m. – 7 p.m., South Maui): Join the Valley Isle Road Runners every third Thursday of the month at Waikiki Brewing Company South Side for a pub run series. Meet at 5:15 p.m., run or walk and then get some great food and craft brews. The Waikiki Brewing Company is located at 3750 Wailea Alanui Dr. B-25, Wailea, HI 96753.
3. Wood Carving Craft Class (Fri., Sept. 20; 1 p.m.-2 p.m., Kahului): Uncle Willy talks story and shares the history of his own family’s generations of carving and the meaning of imagery. Watch and learn as skilled artisans showcase their expertise and demonstrate the intricate craft of wood carving. Signup for classes online at https://www.onifoundation.org/activities. 4. Maui Okinawan Festival (Sat., Sept. 21; 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Kahului): The Maui Okinawan Festival is back after a five-year hiatus. Presented by Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai. The event is happening at the Maui Mall Village and will include an array of traditional food, music, crafts, and interactive experiences that honor Okinawan traditions and bring the community together. 5. St. Johns Kula Festival (Sat., Sept. 21; 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Kula): St. Johns is launching its annual Kula Festival this Saturday. The event has been happening for almost 40 years but was canceled during COVID-19. There will be live music all day long sponsored by Mana’o Radio including Isle of Maui Pipe Band, Cheryl Rae, Jamie Lawrene, Kawika Ortiz, Steve Grimes, Benny Uyetake and Halau Hula Wehena o ke Ao. There will be a wide variety of food for sale, kids zone, Pony Rides, produce and plants, local crafters, a quilt show and a silent auction. There will be a $2 admission charge. 6. Rally Around Peace Day (Sat., Sept., 21; 1 p.m.- 4 p.m., Wailuku): Imua Family Services & Teran James Young Foundation is hosting a Rally Around Peace Butterfly Festival with musicians such as Marty Dread and Lei’ohu Ryder, along with guest speaker Dr. Adam Coles. Engage in meaningful conversations during the peace summit and Circle, where community leaders, thinkers, and advocates will come together to explore ways to promote peace and harmony in our beautiful Maui. 7. Oskie Rice Memorial Rodeo (Fri.-Sun., Sept. 20-22; times vary, Makawao): Enjoy roping, team roping, jr. bull riding and more during this bull bash starting at 7 p.m. on Friday. Rodeo starts on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. $20 general admission. Located at 521 Olinda Road in Makawao. Learn more at www.oskiericeeventcenter.com.
8. “Sharks After Dark” (Sat. 21; 6 p.m.- 9:30 p.m., Kahului): Celebrate the arrival of autumn with a 21-and-older night featuring food, drinks, country tunes, line dance lessons, a 360-degree selfie station, cornhole games, diver presentations, and showings of the immersive “Humpbacks of Hawai’i” 3D experience. Themed attire is highly encouraged! Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Located at the Maui Ocean Center at 192 Maalaea Road Wailuku, HI 96793.
9. Sister Nancy (Sun., Sept. 22; 5 p.m., Wailuku): Check out Sister Nancy, the pioneering artist hailed as the first female star in the male-dominated world of Jamaican dancehall, live on stage at Da Playground Maui located at 300 Maalaea Rd Suite IC, Wailuku, HI, United States, Hawaii 96793. Ticket $35 in ad vance, $45 at the door.
10. Mooses Bingo (Mon., Sept. 23; 7:30 p.m., Kihei): Head to Moose McGillycuddy’s at 2511 S Kihei Rd, Kihei, HI, United States, Hawaii 96753 for a night of Bingo.
11. Aquarium Yoga at the Maui Ocean Center (Tue., Sept. 24; 4:45 p.m., Wailuku): Experience a unique and immersive yoga class, Aquari-OM yoga, at Maui Ocean Center, where you can connect with Hawai’i’s marine life while practicing yoga in the captivating setting of the Open Ocean exhibit. 12. Uncle Benny Uyetake’s Kanikapila – featuring Ron Kuala’au (Wed., Sept. 25; 6:30 p.m., Kihei): Head to Mulligans on the Blue to see musical legend Ron Kuala’au with Uncle Benny Uyetake for an intimate Kanikapila in their Music Box. Tickets are $10-20. Located at 100 Kaukahi St. in Kihei.
