Megan’s Top 10 Events: Happy Halloween, Maui News readers!
We hope you’ve been enjoying our weekly happenings that have been featuring everything from spooktacular trick or treats to costume contests and more all over the island.
For this week’s Top events feature, you can expect highlights that will be Halloween themed and then some! Don’t forget to check out the Maui County Fesitval and Wailuku First Friday this week.

1. Halloween in the Gardens Pet Parade and Keiki Costume Contest (Thursday, Oct. 31; 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Kihei): Head to the South Maui Gardens in Kihei for the annual Halloween in the Gardens free community event for families, friends and pets. Located at 35 Ahuna Road in Kihei, the Maui Humane Society and Kihei Food Oasis are teaming up to support this event featuring a live DJ, a keiki costume contest, yard games, a pet parade and so much more. 2. Kā’anapali’s Family Fun Halloween Bash (Thursday, Oct. 31; 5 p.m.- 8 p.m., Whalers Village):Enjoy a live DJ, entertainment, games, face painting, trick or treat station, a photo booth and more during this west side celebration. Parking is free for two hours. Located at 2435 Kaanapali Parkway, Lahaina, HI 96761-1916.
3. Holoholo Halloween at the Queen Kaahumanu Center (Thursday, Oct. 31; 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Kahului): Queen Kaʻahumanu Center is hosting a Holo Holo Halloween at the Center Court. Expect a keiki costume contest, trick-or-treating, and exciting activities for all ages. Participating keiki will be separated by age groups (Ages 1-4; 5-9, and 10-13). Head to 275 W. 4. Haunted Circus Fundraiser, CarnEVIL of Horrors! (Thursday, Oct. 31; 4 p.m.- 10 p.m., Wailuku): Head on down to the Historic Iao Theater for the Haunted Circus Fundraiser featuring a child-friendly haunted house where little ones can enjoy spooky thrills without the chills. Adults invited from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets available at the door. The event is being presented by Maui Onstage, in partnership with Fuzz Box Productions, Waikapu Danceworks, the Parlay, Esters Fair Prospect & Wave of Harmony. Located at 68 N. Market St. in Wailuku.
5. First Friday in Wailuku (Friday, Nov. 1; times vary, Wailuku): It’s that time for the monthly First Friday in Wailuku. This First Friday you can enjoy live music, presentations, local vendors and more. Learn more at www.wailukufirstfriday.com.
6. 11th Annual Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival (Friday & Saturday, Nov.1-2; times vary, Kahului): The Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival returns for its 11th year on Friday and Saturday at the acclaimed Maui Arts & Cultural Center. This year’s event will feature a curated selection of the finest products from Maui, Molokai, and Lanai. The festivities begin on Friday with the Buyers’ Preview & Exclusive Shopping Day from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a relaxed shopping experience culminating in an Opening Ceremony at 5 p.m. with complimentary pupus that will set the tone for the weekend. Saturday is the Big Festival Day, hosted by Maui’s beloved local celebrity, Kathy Collins. Parking is free on Saturday, with convenient free shuttle services to/from the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. 7. Dia de los Muertos (Saturday, Nov. 2; 4 p.m.- 9 p.m., Wailuku): Dia de los Muertos is a pre-colonial celebration practiced throughout Latin America that celebrates the departed. This year’s event includes a night filled with the vibrant performances of Mariachi Espectacular and grammy award winning Mariachi Divas by Cindy Shea. Happening at the J. Walter Cameron Center at 95 Mahalani St, Wailuku, HI 96793.
8. Maui Senior Fair (Saturday, Nov. 2; 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Kahului): Older adults and their families are invited to attend the 51st annual Maui County Senior Fair on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maui Mall Village in Kahului. This year’s theme, “The Power of Connection,” highlights the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social interactions have on our health and well-being. Located at 70 E Kaahumanu Ave. in Kahului.
9. 21st Annual Arbor Day Garden Expo & Tree Giveaway (Saturday, Nov. 2; 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Kahului): This is a free community event with free parking across the street at War Memorial Stadium. This year’s event, in partnership with Maui Association of Landscape Professionals, includes tree and plant care demonstrations, free hands-on Hawaiian cultural activities, keiki activities, conservation organizations, plants for sale, and the native Hawaiian tree giveaway that is first come, first served, one per person, any age. 10. Lahaina Housing and Resource Fair (Saturday, Nov. 2; 1 p.m.- 4 p.m., Lahaina): Do you need help rebuilding your home? Finding a lender? Understanding insurance? Submitting permits? Save the date for a resource fair with local businesses and nonprofits who want to support you. There will be food, door prizes, Keiki zone and more. Event will take place at Lahaina Intermediate School.
