As we inch closer to one of our favorite October holidays--more exciting events are popping up on Maui and inviting you to step outside and enjoy what the island has to offer.
Take the kids to the Wailea Village Halloween Costume Party or check out the 13th Annual Maui Steel Guitar Festival. Whether you're in the mood for music, magic, or magnificent food, Maui events this week will not disappoint.

1. Wailea Village Center Halloween Costume Party (Thursday, Oct. 17; 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Wailea): The Wailea Village Center will be hosting an annual Halloween costume event happening this Thursday. The Halloween Sunset Market will feature a kids costume contest as well as a doggy costume contest. Guests may expect live entertainment with Anthony Pfluke and over 25 Made in Maui vendors. New restaurants "Kohola Brewery," Nikkei Sushi and Tikihau Lounge will also be at the event. Located 100 Wailea Ike Drive.
2. Chala--Presented by Q103, AG Presents & Mulligans On The Blue (Friday, Oct. 18; 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Kihei): Q103, AG Presents, and Mulligans on the Blue are bringing in one of Colorado's great reggae bands back to Mulligans Music Box, Chala. Supporting this show are special guests the Alliez and also Lawai'a. Chala has been touring shows on the mainland opening for Steel Pulse. There are limited tables available on a first come first serve basis. Limited presale tickets are available for $15 and General Admission is $20; $25 on day of event. 3. Maui Adult Day Care Annual Caregiver Walk (Saturday, Oct. 19; 7 a.m.- 11 a.m., Kahului): Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is hosting the 2024 Family Caregiver Walk with Maui Adult Day Care Center this Saturday. This annual event celebrates caregivers and supports the essential services it provides to kūpuna and their families. Expect a leisurely walk, live entertainment, a free health fair, food, prizes, and family fun. Corporate sponsorships and registrations are now open. Register as an individual or team at www.madcc.org/family-caregiver-walk/. Submit it to any Maui Adult Day Care Center or at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center on the morning of the event. Proceeds benefit the center's programs.
4. 13th Annual Maui Steel Guitar Festival (Saturday, Oct. 19; 3 p.m.- 6 p.m., Wailea): An abbreviated Maui Steel Guitar Festival will be held this Saturday at The Shops At Wailea.The Maui Steel Guitar Festival has been developed to promote appreciation and interest in the Hawaiian Steel Guitar as a uniquely Hawaiian music genre. This free, multi-artist festival includes a series of performances, presentations, and hands-on opportunities that are focused on the Hawaiian Steel Guitar and its importance in the Hawaiian music genre. The Hawaiian Steel Guitar is the only instrument thought to be indigenous to Hawaii. Visit mauisteelguitarfestival.com for more information.
5. Dancehall Days Playing the Music of Fleetwood Mac (Saturday, Oct. 19; 5 p.m.-9:30 p.m., Kihei): Dancehall Days has been playing for audiences all over the continental United States and Hawaii, England and the Bahamas, and at the beloved Maui venues. 6. Inna Vision with Gonzo at Da Playground (Saturday, Oct. 19; 9 p.m., Wailuku): Local favorite reggae band Inna Vision is teaming up with Gonzo at Da Playground this weekend. Tickets start at $35 and increase at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m. Head to 300 Maalaea Rd Suite IC in Wailuku or visit daplaygroundmaui.com for more information.
7. Sunset Jazz Series featuring Nara Boone Quartet (Sunday, Oct. 20; 5 p.m.- 7 p.m., Lahaina): As part of the ongoing jazz series at Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate Factory, you can enjoy sunset and a selection of award-winning chocolate, wine, spirits and beer at this event. Head to 78 Ulupono St. in Lahaina. This event features Brent Elberg on drums, Dave Graber on bass, Josh Hearl on guitar and Nara Boone on vocals. 8. Celestial Cruise Special Viewing: Orionid Meteor Shower (Monday, Oct. 21; 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m., Wailuku): Witness the wonder of the Orionid Meteor Shower during this two and a half hour tour. Ages 13 and up start around $109.95 online; $89.95 for ages three to 12, and children under three are free. Prices vary. Learn more at pacwhale.com.
