BARRIO FIESTA TURNS 50 WITH THREE-DAY PARTY

Barrio Fiesta, a longtime Filipino cultural festival and Maui event staple, celebrates its 50th anniversary with three days of great food, entertainment featuring the comedian HappySlip and others, contests including Miss Barrio Fiesta and Little Miss Barrio Fiesta, vendors and displays, exhibits and so much more beginning today between 5 and 10 p.m. at Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center, 780 Onehee Ave. in Kahului. The party continues from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday with a preview show of HappySlip LIVE! at 9:45 p.m. and 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday with basketball games at War Memorial. Come to the south shore of Maui for Kihei’s Fourth Friday Town Party from 6 to 9 p.m. at Azeka Shopping Center Mauka. ‘BIDS FOR KIDS’ BENEFITS LAHAINA TUTOR PROJECT

Enjoy an evening of drinks, pupu, a silent auction featuring items from Grand Wailea, Salon Bella Maui, Trilogy, Warren and Annabelle’s Magic, Hyatt Regency Maui, Lahaina Fish Co., Enjoy the Ride, Kimo’s, Mama’s Fish House and more, plus music by Paul West, at the “Bids for Kids: A Benefit for Lahaina Complex Tutor Project” beginning at 6 p.m. at the Aina Nalu Pavilion in Lahaina Town. MALAMA HAMAKUA DAY GIVES BACK TO OUR ‘AINA

Join this monthly community service outing to remove trash and keep coastal trails open on 267 acres of Hamakua lands purchased by Maui County. The four-mile roundtrip excursion sets off at 9 a.m. from Haiku Community Center and is open to 15 participants with a suggested $3 donation for Sierra Club members and $5 for non-members. Bring gloves, hand tools, water, hat, lunch and sturdy shoes capable of navigating four miles roundtrip. HAPA BACK WITH SECOND SHOW — MORE TO COME

Barry Flanagan and Keli’i Kaneali’i — or HAPA — return to the stage for a second show at 7:30 p.m. in McCoy Studio Theater at Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Limited tickets may still be available at $35, $45 and $65 (plus applicable fees). Due to overwhelming popularity, a third show has been added at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 30.
