Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar will appear as part of the Cooking Channel’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” at 4 p.m. Monday.

The “Extra Crispy” episode will feature an undisclosed dish that has been on the menu since the day that the first location opened in Kapalua in 1996. When sushi fans see it, they will recognize it instantly and want to eat it.

Cookbook author and Food Network personality Fanny Slater “nominated” the wildly popular Sansei creation that is prepared on the program by veteran DK Restaurant Chef Keith Endo.

Be sure to tune in (or set your DVR). After the “Extra Crispy” premieres, it will repeat at 8 p.m. on Spectrum HD channels 322 and 1322.

Besides Kapalua, Sansei is in Kihei, Waikiki, Waikoloa on the Big Island and in Seattle for Mainland lovers of sushi and contemporary Japanese raw and hot foods.

In addition, tickets are being snapped up as fast as you can say, “rosemary maple bourbon” for the fun Ocean to Table craft cocktail dinner coming up from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 21 at Shearwater Tavern in Kihei, voted “Best New Restaurant” in The Maui News’ current Best of Maui readers poll. It is another stellar outlet in the DK Restaurant group.

Mixology director Chandra Lucariello of Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits will join Shearwater’s restaurant/bar Manager Lanui Villalon for the fun drink experience. Courses include house seafood sausage with blistered shishito peppers and tarragon-basil beurre blanc; Maui Nui Farms salad; pork and beans with thick-cut bacon cassoulet; Black Angus hanger steak; and Banoffee trifle with candied bacon. Cost is $65 per person. Call 793-2324.
