Tetairoa McMillan Favorite to Be First Wide Receiver Selected in 2025 NFL Draft

With the 2025 NFL draft just a few weeks away, more and more mocks are being posted online and many of them have Tetairoa McMillan as the first wide receiver to be selected.
Colorado's two-way star, Travis Hunter, is likely going to be picked before McMillan but most mocks have him slotted as a cornerback as analysts believe his skillset will be best used on defense.
So, if you look at Hunter as a CB, the first wide receiver on the board is most likely going to be Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan.

With quite a few NFL teams entering the draft with a need for a dynamic, game-changing receiver who can contribute right away, it's no surprise there's been a lot of talk about which team is going to select McMillan.
The Tankathon's 2025 mock draft currently has the Carolina Panthers picking McMillan at number 8.
The Panthers were very active in the first wave of free agency, but still have several needs to address in the offseason. One of them is a game-changing wide receiver, which they could find in McMillan.
Rookie Xavier Legette, the Panthers' first-round selection last year, had an underwhelming season and while he could eventually become the player they need, they might find it difficult to pass on a top-tier talent like McMillan.
While Tankathon has him slotted at number 8 for the Panthers, not everyone agrees with the selection and they see Panthers going with LB Jalon Walker or DE Shemar Stewart.
Another potential destination for McMillan are the New York Jets at 7. The Aaron Rogers era is officially over and the team will look to retool after their failed project. They traded Davante Adams to the Los Angeles Rams and definitely have some offensive gaps to fill.
Their new offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, previously built the offense at Detroit, where he was a passing game coordinator, and could look to create a similar attack in New York with a dynamic talent like McMillan.
If both Jets and Panthers pass on McMillan and he's still on board at 9, the New Orleans Saints are another potential destination for the former Arizona wide receiver.
Although they already have a good supporting cast for QB Derek Carr in Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, they need a physical wide receiver who is capable of making tough, contested catches and many see McMillan as that guy. His size could open up the field even more for the new head coach Kellen Moore and he fits in terms of finances as the Saints will have to wait until 2026 for their cap situation to clear up.
Two more teams that fans believe could draft McMillan are the Bears at 10 and the Cowboys at 12.
Should he slide down to 12, McMillan could be an amazing fit for the Cowboys, who could create their best one-two punch at WR since their CeeDee Lamb-Amari Cooper pairing in 2021. They need another dependable receiver next to Lamb but have been unable to find one in the free agency and could easily turn to the draft as a means to find elite talent.
He'd immediately become the tallest WR on the roster and act as the big-body deep threat the Cowboys have been looking for.
Whichever team ultimately selects McMillan will be getting a wide receiver with elite physical attributes and reliable hands that can instantly elevate their offense. They'll also be getting a hard worker who was recently described by the Arizona head coach Brent Brennan, as someone who's "serious about their business".
