‘Speaking the Unspeakable’ talk examines suicide rates
Mental Health America of Hawaii’s February Brown Bag Lunch will feature “Speaking the Unspeakable” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the J. Walter Cameron Center in Wailuku, Conference Room 1.
The free event will host guest speaker and therapist Mitch Berman, who will discuss the rates of suicide in Hawaii and the country, as well as the many aspects of suicide and suicidal ideation and suicide resiliency.
Berman has directed the crisis service on Maui for seven years and is currently in private practice, focusing on couple’s therapy, and teaches group dynamics, a news release said.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch, thoughts, and feelings to process a difficult topic, to deepen our personal compassion and understanding, and strengthen community cohesion.
Those interested in attending, email the community coordinator at Danielle.Bergan@mentalhealthhawaii.org.
