Keanae road project wins annual competition

The Maui Chapter of the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers has selected the Keanae Road Safety Improvements project as the winner of its 2021 Project of the Year competition.

Every year, the chapter facilitates the Project of the Year competition to help highlight infrastructure projects that are beneficial to Maui County.

The County of Maui recently completed the Keanae Road Safety Improvements project, which significantly reduced the rockfall and road hazard risk on Keanae Road. The project included significant community outreach and coordination, as well as archaeological and natural resources surveys and protection of resources during construction. The completed project provided peace of mind for residents who rely on the road for access to their homes.
