Applicants sought for massage therapy program
Hui No Ke Ola Pono is recruiting students for a massage therapy licensing program being offered in partnership with the University of Hawaii Maui College’s Office of Extended Learning & Workforce Development.
The 14-month program will begin Jan. 31 and end March 29, 2023.
All classes will be held in person on the UH-Maui College campus from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The part-time program involves a weekly commitment of about 20 hours, including attending 11 hours of classes and dedicating an estimated nine hours of additional study time.
The curriculum will cover massage theory and demonstration, human anatomy and physiology, assessment and clinical reasoning skills, practical training and a student clinic open to the public. Graduates will take the State of Hawaii massage therapist licensing exam after completing the program.
Tuition, textbooks, supplies and licensing exam costs will be sponsored by Hui No Ke Ola Pono’s Kealaho’imai program.
In order to qualify for the program, individuals must be 18 and older and pass an application process that includes a personal statement, two reference letters, an interview and the college’s health clearances.
