The Lei of Aloha for World Peace's Aloha for Ukraine campaign has raised $73,000 to help Ukrainian children and their families.
Contributions to the campaign came from ekolu kitchen1279 and Nalu's South Shore Grill restaurant sales and individual staff member and patron donations. Additionally, local artists donated artwork and musicians volunteered their time and donated their tips.
Lei of Aloha for World Peace sent $20,000 each to Save the Children: Ukraine Children's Relief Fund, World Central Kitchen and Catholic Relief Services. The remaining funds will be used to send diapers and "teddy bears of aloha" to Poland and other neighboring countries that are providing humanitarian assistance. Maui students will write messages of hope and solidarity, along with "world peace" written in Ukrainian, on cards that will be attached to each bear.
To donate to the campaign, bring cash or a check made out to Toy Parade Inc. to Nalu's South Shore Grill or ekolu kitchen1279 in the Azeka Shopping Center.
