Whale Tales program begins March 26

Whale Tales will offer a livestreamed and virtual program featuring more than 20 hours of content beginning at 11 a.m. on March 26 and 27.

There will be an education expo, livestreamed talks, presenter panels, a kids education library, on-demand presentations and interactive experiences for attendees of all ages. The annual Whale Tales event is presented by Whale Trust, a Maui-based whale research and education organization, in partnership with The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua.

MHLA, food bank host toiletry drive

The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association and the Maui Food Bank are hosting a toiletry drive for residents of Hale Makana O Waiale through Friday.

Items like toothpaste, soap, toilet paper and feminine products can be dropped off at Keller Williams Realty Maui offices in Kihei, Kahului and Lahaina.

Earlier this month, the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association presented a $2,500 check to the Maui Food Bank in support of the toiletry drive.

Business course to cover Facebook ads

Maui Social Media School will offer “An Introduction to Facebook Ads and Audiences” course for small business owners from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Participants will learn about Facebook audiences and their best uses, how to create an ad and how to use a Facebook pixel.

The cost for the class is $95.

Club to host director of Grow Some Good

Grow Some Good Program Director Havilah Mills will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s meeting at the Royal Lahaina Resort’s Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at 5:30 p.m. on March 29.

Mills will talk about the history of Grow Some Good as well as its farm-to-school programs and community food systems program.

Veterans association offers scholarships

The Japanese American Veterans Association will award 16 scholarships totaling $26,500 to eligible graduating high school seniors, undergraduate students and post-graduate and professional education students.

Current association members whose membership began before April 1, 2020, are eligible and encouraged to apply. Children of current members are also eligible if their parent or guardian was a member before April 1, 2020.

Past or present members of the Army’s 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment, Reserve Officers Training Corps or U.S. Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course are eligible and encouraged to apply for the association’s U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye Memorial Scholarship.

Applications and supporting documents must be electronically submitted by 11:59 p.m. on April 30 to javascholarship222@gmail.com. Applicants will be notified of a decision in June.
