Six seniors earn $1,000 scholarships

Six graduating seniors from Maui County public schools each received $1,000 scholarships from the Hawaii Alpha Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter.

The recipients include Maile Mae Cacal of Lahainaluna High School, who will major in multimedia journalism at Arizona State University.

The other recipients are from Maui High School, including Cayleb Fernandez, who will study engineering at the University of Arizona; Altene Jacob Tumacder, who will explore nursing and other health careers at the University of Manoa; Mari Yamamoto, who will major in architectural engineering at Oregon State University; and Camille Haluber and Leanne Osorno, who will both be attending the University of Hawaii Maui College and pursue careers in nursing.

Founded in 1947, Alpha Delta Kappa is an International Honorary Sorority for women educators, according to a news release.

The members are dedicated to academic excellence, world understanding and altruism.
