Nonprofit to host film festival, coastal resilience course for educators

Learning Endeavors will host a free Champions of Coastal Resilience Film Festival from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, which can be viewed virtually or at the nonprofit’s location in Kihei.

The film festival will showcase the culmination of a current Champions of Coastal Resilience professional development course for educators, as well as short videos produced by teachers and students on coastal resilience in Hawaii.

The organization will also be offering a free Champions of Coastal Resilience professional development course for Maui teachers of grades 6-12 during fall break.

The course will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 5-6 at the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary in Kihei and from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Learning Endeavors. It will culminate with a film festival on Dec. 6.

Each participating teacher will receive a resource kit, access to digital resources and a $300 stipend for full participation.
