Student art exhibit opens on Friday
An opening party for an exhibit featuring artwork by Lahainaluna High School and Maui Preparatory Academy students will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, at Gallery Lele in Lahaina.
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite artist or painting.
There will be refreshments and prizes for the best costumes.
Gallery Lele is located at 40 Kupuohi St. #303 in Lahaina.

Church rummage sale set for May 6
Po'okela Church will hold its spring rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 6.
Items for sale include furniture, tools, household goods, clothing, linens, jewelry, electronics, potted plants, and fresh produce.

School to host May Day festival
The Hawaiian Mission Academy Maui will host its first annual May Day Festival from 1 to 6 p.m. on May 7, at the Kahului Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kahului.
There will be food, games, live entertainment, a silent auction and a May Day performance.
Scrip booklets will be sold for $20 each. All proceeds will benefit Hawaiian Mission Academy Maui.
The Kahului Seventh-Day Adventist Church is located at 261 Puunene Ave. in Kahului.
Smart Driver Course planned at Kaunoa
AARP will hold its next in-person Smart Driver Course from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 9, at the Kaunoa Senior Center in Spreckelsville.
The course fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for nonmembers. Payment is by cash or check only.

Kaunoa to offer new online class
Kaunoa Senior Services will offer a new online class, "Geography of Türkiye (Turkey)," at 1:30 p.m. on May 12.
The class will be taught by Chaminade University of Honolulu Professor Willis H.A. Moore.
The virtual class is designed for seniors 55 years old and older and is available online via Zoom.
Kaunoa Senior Services will offer other classes in May that cover wellness and fitness, music and dance, and arts and crafts. All classes are one hour unless otherwise noted. Wrestling club to host fundraiser
The Lahaina Wrestling Club will host a fundraising event from 4 to 8 p.m. on May 13, at the Lahaina Jodo Mission.
There will be live music, food for purchase, games, a raffle and prizes.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for equipment, supplies and travel expenses for the Lahaina Wrestling Club. The club has set a fundraising goal of $10,000, according to a news release.

The Tenors to perform Imua benefit concert
International vocal group The Tenors will perform a benefit concert at 6 p.m. on May 19 at Imua Family Services' Imua Discovery Garden in Wailuku.
The concert will benefit Imua Family Services and the ongoing development of the Will Smith Imua Discovery Garden.
There will be a VIP meet and greet reception following the concert. Transportation to and from the event will be available via the Artsy Bee Shuttle, which will run between Imua Discovery Garden and the Maui Lani Safeway parking lot beginning at 5 p.m.

Registration open for youth steward program
Hawaii Land Trust and University of Hawaii-Maui College will offer a summer session of the Ahupua'a Stewards Leadership Program June 6 through July 18.
The program helps high school students on Maui develop and implement environmental decisions informed by ahupua'a systems, according to a news release.
There will be in-person classes from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays at UH-Maui College. There will also be field trips to Hawaii Land Trust lands and conservation partner sites on Maui.
