Lahainaluna High School Foundation launches fire relief fund

2 min read

The nonprofit Lahainaluna High School Foundation has launched a fire relief fund to help the students, faculty and staff of Lahainaluna recover after the Aug. 8 wildfire devastation.

"The Foundation wanted to also be a source to accept donations and to focus those contributions in helping our Lahainaluna High School staff, faculty, and students who have lost their homes, belongings and in several cases, also their jobs," said Executive Director Art Fillazar, who is also a former Lahainaluna faculty member.

Donations to the foundation will also be shared, as best as possible, with neighboring public schools of Lahaina Intermediate and Princess Nahi'ena'ena Elementary, as well as those from King Kamehameha III Elementary, which was destroyed by the fire.

Checks payable to Lahainaluna High School Foundation can be mailed to P.O. Box 11617, Lahaina, HI 96761, with the memo "Fire Relief." A traditional form can also be used from the foundation website at www.lahainalunahighschoolfoundation.org/donate. Donors should complete the link form and mail the form back with the donation, or use the electronic fund transfer link using a credit card. Use the box indicating "greatest needs" and in any of the comment boxes, type in "fire relief."

For questions, contact Fillazar by email at lhsf08@yahoo.com or leave a voicemail with a callback number at (808) 661-5332.
