School offers four full scholarships
Haleakala Waldorf School is offering four full scholarships for ninth grade-level students through its Holomua Scholarship.
The school will offer the scholarships beginning this fall. Scholarships will be valid until each scholarship recipient graduates from 12th grade.
Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Scholarships will be awarded based on a statement of intention, letters of recommendation and teacher evaluations. Priority will be given to students impacted by the recent wildfires, those born in Hawaii, families with multigenerational connections to Hawaii and those with financial need.
Application materials are available at www.waldorfmaui.org. Scholarship applications are due by Sept. 3 and awards will be announced by Sept. 15.

MEO business course starts Tuesday
Maui Economic Opportunity's Core Four Business Planning series will begin Tuesday in person or online via Zoom.
Offered by MEO's Business Development Center, the five-week series meeting twice a week covers writing a business plan and offers information entrepreneurs need to start, operate and grow a business.
Those who complete Core Four also become eligible for a business plan competitive grant of up to $20,000 for startup expenses.
Classes run from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5, for a total of 24 hours of instruction.
The course costs $75. Financial assistance is available.
Registration is required and can be done online at www.meoinc.org/programs -services/business-develop ment-center/core-four/. Enrollment forms can also be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at MEO's Family Center at 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.

Rotary club to host nonprofit president
Maui Green and Beautiful President Elaine Malina will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea's meeting at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, at Kihei Lutheran Church.
Malina will discuss the nonprofit's partnership with the Kihei Community Association's re-shade campaign, which focuses on the importance of full canopy trees in parking lots to combat climate change.

Free fitness trainer program offered
The Kealaho'imai Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor Certifications Program will be offered through the UH-Maui College Continuing Education beginning Oct. 26.
The full cost of instruction, textbooks and exam fees are sponsored by Hui No Ke Ola Pono's Kealaho'imai program, which promotes Native Hawaiian workforce development in the health care and wellness industries.
The dual program of study will start on Oct. 26 and end on July 27, 2024, for a total of eight months of classes, not including a month-long winter break. There is a weekly commitment of 10-12 hours, including five to six hours of synchronous classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as Saturday mornings.
Participants will be prepared for entry-level positions in the health and fitness industry. Upon completion of the program, participants will take the American Council on Exercise's certification exams for personal trainers and group fitness instructors.
Applicants must be Hawaii residents ages 18 and older, have a high school diploma or equivalent and submit health clearances. Seats are limited and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. For more information, visit www.hnkop.org/kealahoimai or contact kealahoi@hawaii.edu.

Realtors Foundation distributes relief aid
The Hawaii Realtors Charitable Foundation will work with the Realtors Association of Maui to distribute $1.5 million in disaster relief aid following the recent fires on Maui.
Homeowners and renters whose primary residence was damaged or destroyed by the fires can apply for up to $3,000 in initial assistance per household. The grant funds were awarded by the National Association of Realtors Relief Foundation.

Rotary fundraiser set for Sept. 9
The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui will host the club's eighth annual golf tournament fundraiser benefiting Women Helping Women and The Maui Farm at 6:15 a.m. on Sept. 9, at the Pukalani Country Club.
The tournament format is an 18-hole, four-person, shotgun start, best-ball scramble. There will also be special contests with prizes.
The fee for a single entry is $125 and $150 at the door. A two-player team pays $250 in advance, and $300 at the door.
The price of entry includes the green fee, shared cart fee, a swag bag, continental breakfast package, hot buffet lunch, snacks, water, soda, a door prize drawing ticket and an awards presentation.
Proceeds from the tournament will support Women Helping Women, which offers emergency shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence, and The Maui Farm, which provides safe transitional housing and farm-based, family-centered programs.
