The first 40 moviegoers will receive free tickets for the 12:30 and 2:50 p.m. matinee showings of "Waikiki" this Sunday at the Maui Mall theater in Kahului.
The free tickets will be given on first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
"This is a small gesture to show our aloha for the Valley Isle as we bring WAIKIKI to the Maui Mall Theater," filmmaker Christopher Kahunahana said in a news release. "We don't talk about how we are using our land and resources in sustainable ways. I hope that this film will stir up conversations as we reflect on how to do better."
The film tells the story of Kea (Danielle Zalopany), a hula dancer escaping her abusive boyfriend. She crashes her van into a mysterious man and finds herself flung into a surrealistic journey of self-exploration and reconnection to nature within the shadows of Waikiki.
