Akaku offering holiday video recordings
Akaku Maui Community Media is offering residents an opportunity to record a 30-second holiday greeting video that will air on all Akaku channels.
Recordings will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Dec. 15, with a $50 donation. The service is free for businesses and individuals displaced by the fires, as well as agencies serving them.
Participants will receive a digital copy they can share. There are a variety of festive green screen backdrops available.

Free farm tours for fire victims
Leilani Farm Sanctuary in Haiku is offering free farm tours for Maui residents who lost their homes in the fires.
Visitors can meet farm animals and learn about the history of the farm and the rescued animals who reside there, including a donkey, geese, chickens, cats, pigs, goats, ducks, a cow, a swan, tortoises, guinea pigs and rabbits.
The tour lasts approximately one hour. Farm visitors must be at least 7 years old.

Santa to headline storytime event
The Holoholo Bookmobile and Santa Claus will host a free storytime event at 2 p.m. on Dec. 20, at the Hale Mahaolu Ewalu Community Hall in Pukalani.
The event is recommended for children ages 3 to 6, but all ages are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
The Holoholo Bookmobile will be onsite for browsing and borrowing.

MHLA donates $2,500 for reef restoration
The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association recently donated $1,000 to Trilogy Excursions' Blue Aina Reef program and $1,500 to the Maui Nui Marine Resource Council.
The association sponsored this month's Blue Aina Reef Cleanup event at Maalaea Harbor on Dec. 3. The Maui Nui Marine Resource Council was the nonprofit beneficiary of the event. The organization monitors the health of local coral reefs and has been assisting properties to transition away from synthetic landscaping products as part of its Reef Friendly Landscaping Certification program.
Maui Hotel & Lodging Association members participated in the Blue Aina Reef Cleanup event. They retrieved fishing wire and debris from the underwater reef and listened to a presentation on regenerative coral solutions and contaminants prevention.
"Helping to clean up our ocean is such a beautiful way to give back," said Maui Hotel & Lodging Association Executive Director Lisa Paulson. "It's wonderful to see collective efforts between our members in the visitor industry and our environmental partners providing education and opportunities like these."
