Kihei Charter School to hold information sessions
Kihei Charter School will hold open house information sessions at 5 p.m. on Feb. 27, March 6, March 14 and March 27, at the Kihei Charter School campus in Kihei.
The four sessions are open to the public. There will be a campus tour and an explanation of the school's programs. Information sessions will be for elementary school (grades K-5), middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12).
Applications to apply for enrollment will be available beginning March 1 at any of the information sessions, in the school's office, or online at kiheicharter.org. The next school term will run from Aug. 5 to May 30, 2025.

Maui Strong support group to meet Feb. 28
National Alliance on Mental Illness Hawaii and Mental Health America of Hawaii will host a Maui Strong support group meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Maui Community Mental Health Center in Lahaina.
There is no cost to attend and water and snacks will be provided.
The Maui Community Mental Health Center is located at 1830 Honoapiilani Hwy., just below the Lahaina Civic Center.

Jazz Maui concerts set for next week
The Jazz Maui 2024 Maui Music Series will present the Brigham Young University-Hawaii Studio Orchestra in three free concerts featuring "The Happiest Songs on Earth" at 6 p.m. on Feb. 29 at the Royal Lahaina Resort, March 1 at Queen Kaahumanu Center and March 2 at King Kekaulike High School.

T'ai chi ch'uan course offered
A 10-week beginner t'ai chi ch'uan course will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning March 5 at the Kula Dojo.
The course will be taught by certified instructors Jan Osterneck and John Rivera. T'ai chi ch'uan is known to improve concentration, strengthen the mind/body connection and enhance health and well-being.

Volunteers sought for March 9 beach cleanup
The Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute is seeking volunteers for a beach cleanup event from 9 to 11 a.m. on March 9, at Sugar Beach in Kihei.
Participants will meet at the Kealia Boardwalk, where they will be provided with reusable gloves, rubbish receptacles and marine debris data collection sheets. The citizen science data collected from the cleanup will contribute to the Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute's annual marine debris count.

Free Ho'oponopono Level 1 Classes
Keala O Kalani is offering free Ho'oponopono Level 1 and Level 2 classes via Zoom on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students who complete Saturday's class may attend Sunday's class. This ancient Hawaiian problem-solving process has universal application and may be used effectively by anyone, anywhere and at any time -- regardless of one's ethnicity, culture or background.
