No tsunami warning for Hawaii after earthquake in Japan

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat to Hawaii late Friday night after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake shook Japan.

The earthquake took place near the east coast of Honshu, Japan, shortly after 11 p.m. Hawaii time, according to the center.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, the center said.
