First photo: Art Maui board member Lynne Bear files a Tom Faught piece by alphabetical order for judging. Receiving Day for the Art Maui annual juried exhibition was Thursday at the Schaefer International Art Gallery at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. The 187 artists who preregistered their works brought them to the receiving desk by hand or on a dolly to submit to the board of directors. More than 100 other artists also registered.

Today, sole juror Stephan Jost, director of the Honolulu Museum of Art, will fly in to make his top selections. At 8 p.m. Sunday, the list of selected works will be posted online.
Art Maui will debut March 24 and run to April 20. Showing times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
