As part of EMS Week, paramedics and emergency medical technicians are offering tips to improve community safety, including using seat belts and child car restraints and making homes and workplaces safer from falls, poisons, unsecured guns and other hazards.

Professionals recommend promptly calling 911 whenever someone suffers a sudden serious illness or injury and staying on the line until the dispatcher says the caller can hang up.

It’s also recommended that residents make sure their house or mailbox numbers are easy to read from the street during the day and at night so emergency responders can easily locate residences.

Professionals also recommend proper diet, exercise, rest and stress management to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke and minimizing alcohol consumption.

Starting at $4.62/week.
