Garden-grown Goodies
First Photo: Grow Some Good volunteer Terry Huth (left) assists students in Gretchen Genson’s 4th-grade class at Kamalii Elementary School as they press fresh cane juice for lemonade using local heirloom ko sugar cane and Meyer lemons. Grace James takes a close look at the press Monday at the Kihei school. This week, more than 600 students at Kamalii will make vegetable pizzas and lemonade with heirloom cane juice and Meyer lemons as part of the annual school garden Harvest Festival, produced by Grow Some Good, a nonprofit organization that plans, installs and manages school garden programs on Maui.
