KAILUA, Oahu (AP) – A 59-year-old man died and his stepson was injured after a passing boat’s propeller struck the younger man while the two were diving in an area off Lanikai Beach on Saturday.

The stepson was struck and taken to a hospital.

The Honolulu Fire Department and Ocean Safety personnel searched for the older man, whose body was found about two hours later.

EMS spokeswoman Shayne Enright said that family members described the man as an experienced free diver. It’s unclear whether he was also hit by the boat. An autopsy is planned.
