Blackburn to hold fundraiser April 28
Maui County Council candidate Joe Blackburn will hold a campaign fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 28 at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.
Blackburn is seeking the council’s Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu residency seat.
The event will feature food, entertainment by Ikaika Blackburn and a grand prize drawing.

ILWU endorses Regan for council
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 142 has endorsed Maui County Council candidate Keith Regan, the candidate has announced.
The union’s more than 7,000 members work in tourism, agriculture, health care and general trades.
Regan is the county’s managing director. He is seeking the Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu residency seat being vacated by Mike Victorino due to term limits.

Tegarden locks in 6 endorsements
South Maui House candidate Deidre Tegarden received a half-dozen endorsements Thursday in her bid for the Democratic Party nomination.
Unions representing thousands of workers and backing Tegarden for the 11th House District seat (Kihei-Wailea-Makena) included the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 142; the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers; the Hawaii Operating Engineers, Local 3; and the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local 368. Also endorsing the candidate were the Hawaii Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust and the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association.
In an announcement, union leaders praised Tegarden’s personal qualities, leadership, vision, work ethic and experience.
