Regan holds event April 23
Maui County Council candidate Keith Regan will hold a “meet and greet” event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 23 at the Lahaina Yacht Club, 835 Front St.
The event will include complimentary pupu and a no-host bar. It’s an opportunity for voters to get to know Regan and ask him questions, according to an announcement.

Meanwhile, the Operating Engineers Local 3 has endorsed Regan’s bid for the Maui County Council’s Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu residency seat.
The union has more than 300 members who are Maui County residents, according to an announcement. The union members are heavy equipment operators and construction workers.
Union business agent William Greig praised Regan for his knowledge of key issues and “for being an energetic, experienced and responsive leader in our community.”

Tegarden events kick off at HQ
A “Talk-Story with Tegarden” session will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday by Deidre Tegarden, Democratic candidate for the South Maui seat in the state House of Representatives.
The event will be at Tegarden headquarters at the Azeka Makai Shopping Center above Flowers by Cora. This week’s topic is “Focus on Our Kupuna.”
From 7 to 10 a.m. April 23, Friends of Deidre Tegarden, along with the Living Pono Project, will host a beach cleanup between the Ko’ie’ie Fishpond and Azeka Shopping Center. Volunteers should meet at 7 a.m. at Tegarden headquarters for a logistics and safety meeting. Volunteers will be transported by shuttle to the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, where they will walk a 1.2 mile stretch of beach. Cleanup supplies will be provided along with kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for those who would like to clean up debris from the ocean.
Complimentary shave ice and other refreshments will be served at the headquarters.
The Living Pono Project is dedicated to revitalizing Hawaiian culture through education, outreach and environmental restoration, a news release said.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 142 has endorsed Maui County Council candidate Keith Regan, the candidate has announced.

South Maui House candidate Deidre Tegarden received a half-dozen endorsements Thursday in her bid for the Democratic Party nomination.
Unions representing thousands of workers and backing Tegarden for the 11th House District seat (Kihei-Wailea-Makena) included the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 142; the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers; the Hawaii Operating Engineers, Local 3; and the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local 368.
