A “Yuki Lei Day” fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku for Maui County Council candidate Yuki Lei Sugimura.
A $25 donation is requested for the event, which will include music by Willie K and food.
Sugimura is seeking the council’s Upcountry residency seat, which includes Pukalani, Kula and Ulupalakua.

Jerome “Tiger” Metcalfe, a candidate for the Maui County Council’s South Maui residency seat, will be holding a series of events this month and will be accepting donations of canned food for the Maui Food Bank along with campaign donations.
The events are:
* Meet-and-greet coffee sessions in Kihei will be held Tuesday, Thursday and May 10 and 12. Sessions will be at 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Starbucks at 1819 S. Kihei Road and at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Starbucks at Piilani Village Shopping Center.
* Meet-and-greet coffee sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and May 11 at Starbucks at the Maui Marketplace in Kahului.
* A “Cinco de Mayo” meet-and-greet will be held from 9 to 10:15 p.m. Thursday at Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant in Kihei. A similar event will be held Saturday at the restaurant from 6 to 7:15 p.m.
* Sunset event will be held from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. Friday at Kamaole Beach Park III and at 6 p.m. Sunday at Cove Park. There will be hot dogs and beverages and music.
* A meet-and-greet event will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. May 9 at Nalu’s South Shore Grill at the Azeka Makai Shopping Center in Kihei.

Fundraiser cruise is Friday
Democratic state House candidate Deidre Tegarden of South Maui will hold a sunset cruise fundraiser Friday aboard the Ali’i Nui, according to an announcement.
Check-in is at 5 p.m. at Maalaea Harbor slip 56, and the catamaran sets sail at 5:30 p.m.
The event is limited to 60 participants. It includes food, beverages and entertainment. Tickets cost $150 and cover food and drinks.
