Doris Todd Christian Academy to celebrate 60th anniversary with three days of events

Doris Todd Christian Academy will be celebrating its 60th anniversary Oct. 21-23. Celebration activities will begin with a worship service on the lower lawn on Oct. 21 at 8:30 a.m. That evening, a banquet at the Nahele Banquet Room located at the Kahili Golf Course will feature alumni and a history of the school.

On Oct. 22 at 7 a.m., the school is sponsoring a North Shore Run of 7.25 miles. The run will begin at the campus, proceed up Baldwin Avenue to Holomua Road, across and down to Hana Highway, then up Baldwin Avenue to the school campus. An open house that afternoon, from 1 to 4, will feature a history of the school in pictures by decades.

The celebration will conclude with a picnic on Oct. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. on the school campus. For more information and to register, visit www.doristoddchristian.org or call the school office at 579-9237.

In 1956, Doris and Ed Todd took four children into their home and began the Paia Baptist Nursery School, now known as Doris Todd Christian Academy. From small beginnings to its long-lasting growth, Doris Todd Christian Academy, along with the help of many in the community and friends, now serves over 182 students from preschool through high school. The school's campus is located at 519 Baldwin Ave. in Paia.
