The Pa'ia Youth & Cultural Center has announced two recipients of its PYCC Scholarship Fund.
Tucker Jahrmarkt was awarded $1,000, the second year he has has been awarded this scholarship. A student at University of Hawaii Maui College, he is currently pursuing his liberal arts degree. His primary interests, aside from school, are skateboarding, music, film, photography, as well as outdoors activities and other art forms. He is actively participating in film projects, searching and studying music, and continuing to follow his passions along all branches of skateboarding.
Zachary "Kaika" Kaikai-kaokeola Milanio was awarded $1,000, also the second year he has been awarded this scholarship. He is interested in pursuing a career in auto mechanics and is taking classes at UH-MC that will support his goal. When not in school, Milanio works at Hi-Tech in Paia and teaches skateboarding at the PYCC StoneWave Skate School.
This year, the Campbell Family funded the PYCC Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship is open to any multiyear active member of PYCC who is a high school senior or has a GED or is in their first year of community college. Each candidate has to submit an application and be interviewed.
