Blue Zones Project Central Maui volunteer Mokihana Kahula of Makawao dishes up a healthy plate of linguine primavera during a kickoff event Friday outside Wailuku’s Iao Theater. Blue Zone State Engagement Lead Ashley Takitani Leahey said that the event “launches efforts to make healthy choices easier in our community.” She said little changes by restaurants, schools and grocery stores can make a big difference in helping people choose to eat things like salads over french fries. Wailuku/Kahului was one of five communities statewide selected to join the Blue Zones Project, a community well-being improvement initiative.

Starting at $4.62/week.
