Doris Todd schools earn six-year accreditations

Doris Todd Christian Academy and its high school affiliate Maui Christian Academy have received six-year accreditations from the Association of Christian Schools International and the Accrediting Commission for Schools — Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Association of Christian Schools International, which has accredited Doris Todd since 1998, reviews more than 5,300 schools in more than 100 countries. The Accrediting Commission for Schools Western Association of Schools and Colleges is one of six regional accrediting agencies in the U.S., the school news release said.

Accreditation is a self-study, an independent analysis, a comparison to established standards, an assessment of the school’s mission, a commitment to quality education and a willingness to be accountable, the news release said.

The accreditations mean “Doris Todd Christian Academy met standards of quality and verifies the school’s commitment to strategic improvement and ongoing accountability,” the news release said.

Doris Todd has 180 students in its preschool-to-high-school programs. The school’s preschool-to-8th-grade program is located at its longtime Paia campus. Maui Christian Academy, the high school, is located in the old Valley Isle Fellowship building on High Street in Wailuku.
