Police arrest man wearing sports bra after burglary

WAILUKU — A man was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a Haiku residence Sunday after he was caught wearing a sports bra stolen from the home, police said.

During his arraignment Thursday in 2nd Circuit Court, Holden Bingham, 27, of Kahului pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree burglary, two counts of habitual property crime, third-degree assault and fourth-degree theft.

Police were called after a woman returned to her home on Kauhikoa Road at 4:42 p.m. Sunday and found a man lying on her bed and wearing her sports bra around his waist, according to a declaration filed in court to support the arrest. While trying to flee, the burglar grabbed the woman in a headlock and threw her to the ground, police said.

The burglar was wearing only the sports bra when he left the residence and fled toward Kauhikoa Road, police said.

Officers were heading to the home when they located Bingham wearing the sports bra around his waist and walking on the driveway fronting the home, police said.

A July 2 trial was set for Bingham. He was being held in lieu of $22,000 bail at the Maui Community Correctional Center pending a bail hearing Wednesday.
