Police have opened a murder investigation into the death of a 54-year-old man who was found lying face down and unresponsive Saturday morning at Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku.

He was identified as Kevin Ernst, who had no local address.

Police were called to the church at 103 S. High St. to investigate after 10 a.m., and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the exact cause of Ernst’s death is still under investigation.
