Maui Prep Academy students take their turns with the ceremonial shovels at the end of Friday morning’s groundbreaking ceremony for the Bozich Center for Athletics and Performing Arts on the school’s Napili campus. The $4.5 million, 11,900-square-foot facility is scheduled to be completed in November. Headmaster Robert Landau said the center will not only benefit current students and those to come, but also serve as a “hub” for the rest of the community by being available for local activities and sports and serving as a west side emergency shelter. “This is a start of a lot more to come,” Landau said. The general contractor for the project is Lyle Hamasaki Construction Inc. A capital campaign for the center titled “Give a Little Aloha” is still underway.

Jim and Dana Bozich are the naming sponsors of the Bozich Center for Athletics and Performing Arts. “Our family decided there was a gap, a need,” Jim Bozich said. “It’s all about the kids. Olivia is a junior at Maui Prep, while Carter is in 7th grade.”
