Molokai General Hospital will expand its services to include a wound care clinic with a $41,150 grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
OHA's Kulia Grant will allow the clinic to purchase equipment to perform noninvasive upper and lower extremity vascular assessments. The clinic will eliminate the potential delay in care and a trip to Oahu for the vascular assessment.
As the only hospital on Molokai, Molokai General determined it was pivotal to expand its health care services.
"I am grateful to OHA for selecting this project to be a recipient of the Kulia Grant," said Brianne Childs, manager of the Rehab/Wound Care Clinic. "MGH strives to be a health care leader on Molokai and the expansion of services through this grant will allow us to improve the quality of wound care services we can deliver to those in our community."
Molokai General Hospital is a 15-bed, critical access hospital and is the only health organization to provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the island.
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs' grants program supports nonprofit organizations who serve Native Hawaiian communities and align with OHA's strategic results.
