Living wage is topic of luncheon

The Maui Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Board of Directors Installation Luncheon on Tuesday at the Fairmont Kea Lani Resort, the chamber announced.

Registration starts at 11 a.m., with lunch and the program to follow from 12 to 2:15 p.m.

Maui County Managing Director Sandy Baz will induct the new board, which includes incoming Chairman Rick Nava.

The event also will include an economic panel discussion on understanding a living wage versus a minimum wage, and how to get to a living wage.

Panelists will include Keli’i Akina of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, Sumner La Croix of the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization and Eugene Tian of the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.

Attendees will also get a chance to meet the board of directors and network with Maui business owners.

The deadline to register is 4 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $74 for chamber members and $84 for nonmembers.
