Police arrested and charged two men and recovered at least one firearm in a continuing investigation into threats made against a woman and her boyfriend when they located her son's stolen car on Amala Place in Kahului.

The couple went to the location near Kaa Point, or Kite Beach, on Monday and confronted a male, who began phoning others to have them show up at the location, said Assistant Chief John Jakubczak. He said two vehicles arrived with people who accosted the couple and assaulted the boyfriend.

One man brandished a firearm and made threats, Jakubczak said.

He said police were called and the group fled in two vehicles.

Patrol officers recovered the stolen Honda four-door sedan and identified a woman in one of the vehicles, Jakubczak said. Police records show the 36-year-old Paia woman was arrested Monday and released pending further investigation of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Jakubczak said detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were assigned to the case and generated additional information that one of the vehicles was at Hale Makana O Wai'ale housing in Wailuku. Officers, including those with the Crime Reduction Unit, located the vehicle and arrested a 25-year-old Wailuku man on Monday. He was released pending further investigation of first-degree terroristic threatening but was held on warrants in other cases.

Jakubczak said police were applying for search warrants for vehicles that were impounded and had found one firearm in a search of one vehicle.

On Tuesday, police arrested two other men who were charged in the case.

Krayston Ako Kealoha, 29, of Kihei was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and was released after posting $5,000 bail.

Keanuokekai Kamai Uwekoolani, 21, of Waiehu was charged with a firearm storage violation, keeping a loaded firearm in an improper place, keeping a pistol in an improper place, carrying a loaded firearm on a public highway, keeping ammunition in an improper place, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, failure to register a firearm, use of a firearm in a felony drug offense and third-degree promoting of a harmful drug. He also was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. His bail was set at $37,300.

Responding patrol officers acted on information and worked with Crime Reduction Unit officers and detectives "to get a positive outcome on this case," Jakubczak said.
