Windy day made for kite fest

Olivia Busch, 4, of Wailuku flies her hand-decorated kite during Saturday’s Kite Festival hosted by the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui at Keopuolani Park in Kahului. Japanese Cultural Society of Maui President Deron Furukawa said the fourth annual event drew the largest crowd and also benefited from the strongest winds in its history.

Second photo: Ava Busch, 7, poses with her prize-winning kite Saturday. She won for best decorated.
