The 21st Maui Film Festival at Wailea will be held from June 17 to 21, festival organizers said Tuesday.
The Maui Film Festival at Wailea celebrates the best of American independent and world cinema. Every year, feature and short films are screened outdoors at the Celestial Cinema at the Wailea Golf Club, a Maui Film Festival news release said.
"The 2020 Maui Film Festival at Wailea marks both the start of a new decade for the world and the third decade of the festival," said Barry Rivers, founder and director of the Maui Film Festival at Wailea. "I am excited that this momentous year will introduce creative visionary twists to our excellent programming and noted 'jewel box' reputation."
The 21st festival will feature special screenings and Taste of Summer, Taste of Chocolate and Taste of Wailea culinary events with live music and opportunities to mingle with film artists.
The film lineup, special screening events and ticket sales will be announced later at MauiFilmFestival.com.
Rivers founded the Maui Film Festival at Wailea in 2000. The festival's mission is to share exceptional cinematic vision in the service of compassionate and transformative storytelling with a diverse audience on Maui.
Since its inception, the festival has screened more than 800 narrative and documentary feature length and short films from around the world. During the last 20 years, the festival has honored the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Jessica Chastain, Bryan Cranston, Claire Danes, Laura Dern, Viola Davis, Adam Driver, Clint Eastwood, Zac Efron, Woody Harrelson, Brie Larson, Lupita Nyong'o, Owen Wilson and Evan Rachel Wood.
