Mauians join in worldwide climate strike
First photo: Around 200 people on Maui joined the millions from 150 countries to stage climate strikes Friday ahead of the opening of the United Nations General Assembly and the Climate Action Summit on Monday. The Maui strikers began at UH-Maui College, walked to Queen Ka’ahumanu Center, crossed the street, and walked back to the college, repeating the loop multiple times. Many held painted signs and flags.
Second photo: Seabury Hall sophomore Camry Gach holds up her sign during Friday afternoon’s global climate strike. Gach, who is part of the Maui Huliau Foundation, joined the many protesters in chanting, “global warming is not a lie, don’t let our planet die.”
