Hashis of Hashi Auto Supply & Service win lifetime award

Mayor’s Small Business Awards handed out

James and the late Richard Hashi of Hashi Auto Supply & Service Co received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Mayor's Small Business Award event held Sept. 26 at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.

The award was presented to for-profits and nonprofits in business in Maui County for more than 20 years.

Other 2019 Mayor's Small Business Award winners included:

• Amanda Furgiuele, Body in Balance and The Pole Room, Young Small Business Person of the Year (under age 40 as of Sept. 26).

• Gene Zarro, South Maui Learning Ohana, Outstanding Non-Profit Business (100 or fewer employees).

• Dustin Tester, Maui Surfer Girls, Exceptional Small Business of the Year (10 or fewer employees).

• Daniel Ellis, Pacific Millworks, Exceptional Small Business of the Year (11 to 39 employees).

The Mayor's Small Business Awards recognize outstanding businesses in Maui County that have 100 or fewer employees.

All finalists and winners were honored at an awards dinner with Maui Chamber of Commerce President Pamela Tumpap, Mayor Michael Victorino and Kay Fukumoto, county economic development director, handing out certificates and awards.

"We are proud to honor these outstanding nominees and winners for their creativity, determination, leadership and success," said Tumpap. "They are bright stars in Maui County's business sector and showcase what exemplary businesses embody."
