Ka Molokai Makahiki Inc. has been awarded an $8,100 ‘Ahahui grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to hold the upcoming Ka Molokai Makahiki 2020 event from Jan. 23 to 25 on the island of Molokai, the organization announced Friday.

The event aims to perpetuate the annual celebration and cultural events of Makahiki on the island of Molokai. It includes educational lectures, opening ceremonies, three days of athletic competitions for youths and adults, entertainment, food booths, craft sales and cultural events. Molokai has proudly continued these traditions and practices for generations, the organization said.
