Police arrest 13 men in prostitution operation at hotel

Thirteen men were arrested and $2,640 was recovered in a reverse prostitution operation targeting suspected johns or customers this week, police reported.

A female police officer posed as a prostitute in the two-and-a-half-day operation conducted by the police Vice Gambling and Morals Unit at a hotel, police said.

The 13 men arrested were Michael James Medeiros, 47; Grant Koga, 34; Kurt Hideo Yamamura, 41; Kevin Sean Keoni Galiciano, 44, of Kahului; Myron Daniels, 32, of Kihei; Bradley S. Forrer, 54, of Napili; Ryan Gaoiran, 35, of Kahului; David Leroy Flood, 53, of Corona, Calif.; Bendel Caesar Sambrano Garcia, 23, of Waikapu; Robert Schmaltz, 67, of Kihei; Samuel Cachola, 48, of Kihei; Antone Estrella, 36, of Waiehu; and Stacy Otomo, 64, of Wailuku.

All were charged with prostitution and released after posting $100 bail each, according to police records. The arrests occurred in the Kihei Patrol District, police records show.

One of the men was released pending further investigation of third-degree promoting of a dangerous drug.

Wailuku patrol and Criminal Intelligence Unit officers assisted in the operation.

Noting that the operation was conducted at a hotel, police asked that employees of hotels and resorts report suspicious activity at their properties.
