The National Weather Service continued a wind advisory for Maui County, with east winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph, through 6 this evening.
The advisory means that strong winds are capable of downing trees, tents and other temporary structures, along with causing power outages.
Powerful wind leveled trees and led to the closure of the 4th Marine Park in Haiku on Saturday, according to a county announcement.
The park will remain closed until cleanup can occur and the park is safe.
Strong, gale-force trade winds are also producing large surf across the state.
The service extended a high surf advisory for east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai, where surf of 6 to 10 feet today was anticipated. Waves are expected to drop to 5 to 8 feet tonight.
The notice was extended until 6 a.m. Monday.
Meanwhile, portions of Maui experienced heavy rains over a 24-hour period that ended at 4 a.m. Sunday.
West Wailuaiki in Keanae had nearly 9 inches of rain (8.99), the most in the state, according to the service.
It was followed by 6.02 inches at Puu Kukui gauge, the second-highest in the county.
Third was 1.36 inches in Puu Alii on Molokai.
