A man who suffered a suspected spinal injury at a South Maui beach was taken to the hospital Tuesday evening, according to a fire official.
First responders received a call at 6:01 p.m. Tuesday about a possible water accident at Kamaole Beach Park I. Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro said that an older man was pulled from the water before fire personnel arrived on scene. They found the victim on shore, conscious and breathing, and exhibiting signs of a spinal injury.
Medics transported the man to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
The Fire Department did not have details on the man's age or where he was from.
