Preorders for Girl Scout Cookies being taken

Lemon-Ups, a crispy lemon cookie baked with messages inspired by Girl Scout entrepreneurs, is new to the Girl Scout Cookie lineup this year with the cookie sales season underway.

The eight messages include “I am a go-getter” and “I am an innovator” and symbolize the experience of Girl Scouting, a news release from Girls Scouts of Hawaii said Tuesday. The new cookie joins the national 2020 lineup, which also includes favorites such as Thin Mints, Samoas and Trefoils.

The boxes also have been refreshed and emphasize what the cookie program is about and the diverse experiences of Girl Scouting, from camping and canoeing to robotics and space science.

“As the largest girl-led entrepreneur program in the world, the Girl Scout Cookie Program encourages our girls to grow in confidence and to use their cookie earnings to better not only themselves, but also their communities,” said Chief Executive Officer Shari Chang.

All money raised stays in Hawaii and is used to support troop projects, she noted.

Girl Scout Cookies can be purchased only from registered Girl Scouts, who currently are taking preorders. Cookie order deliveries and booth sales begin Feb. 22.
