Pro-life marchers take to the streets in Kahului

A sign-waving crowd of about 190 people makes its way along Puunene Avenue in Kahului Saturday morning while taking part in the annual Maui March for Life. Co-organizer Norman Franco (with arms raised, first photo) chants “save the babies” as he walks at the front of the anti-abortion march. “The message is that all life is sacred,” Franco said. “It is a gift from God. It should be cherished and protected, not terminated. Abortion is a sin. It is immoral and it is an inhumane act.” Carrying the large sign at the front of the march are Lahainaluna High School seniors Ken Alba, 17, (left, second photo) and Soane Samisoni, 17. “The feeling of the Holy Spirit is what’s pushing us out here,” Samisoni said. The march ended at Christ the King Church.
