Contact court if self-monitoring

The Maui News

Maui County residents who are self-monitoring for the novel coronavirus, now known as COVID-19, should contact the court if they won’t be able to report on time.

The state Department of Health is requiring residents who have traveled from China outside of Hubei province to self monitor for symptoms of sickness; anyone in Maui County who won’t be cleared in time to report to court for a case, jury duty or any court services should call 2nd Circuit Court at 244-2929.

Once the DOH verifies a person’s self-monitoring status, their matter may be handled in an alternative manner or postponed by a judge until they are cleared to appear. The Judiciary said it is doing so “in an abundance of caution.”

There are currently 35 people under self-monitoring — 34 on Oahu and one on Maui.
